UofT Insider is a course and professor review platform built for University of Toronto students. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data we collect.

Information We Collect

• Email address — your @mail.utoronto.ca email, used solely for account authentication.
• Reviews and ratings — the course and professor reviews you submit, including difficulty, usefulness, clarity, and engagement ratings.
• Votes — your likes and dislikes on courses and professors.
• Favourites — courses you save to your favourites list.

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your identity as a UofT student.
• To display your initials alongside your reviews.
• To calculate aggregate course and professor ratings.
• To allow you to manage your reviews and favourites.
• To identify and moderate inappropriate content, and to report violations to the University of Toronto when necessary.

Visibility & Moderation

Only your initials are displayed publicly alongside the reviews you submit. Your full name and email address are never visible to other users. However, your identity is retained by UofT Insider and may be used to investigate and remove reviews that violate our Terms of Use. Inappropriate or abusive content may be reported to the University of Toronto along with your account information.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.

Third-Party Content

Some reviews on UofT Insider are sourced from publicly available Reddit posts. These reviews are clearly labelled as “From Reddit” and link back to the original post. We do not claim authorship of this content.

Your Rights

• You can edit or delete your reviews at any time.

Cookies

We use essential cookies only for authentication purposes. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party advertising cookies.
