Critical Psychology

This course examines the place of psychology in broader society and culture. What are the consequences of our research and professional practices for how we understand and govern ourselves and others? What is the basis and extent of our authority and power to describe, define, and explain human behaviour and experience? How do our values direct our activities and interpretations as psychologists? How can we critically evaluate the assumptions, commitments, and achievements of our discipline in relation to real or imagined alternatives?
