POL224 was very readings-heavy—all exam questions came directly from the readings rather than lectures, which made lectures feel somewhat useless even though I attended. You need to write argumentative essays for grades. The reading load is substantial, so prioritize doing the readings over attending lectures. Note: my experience was with a different prof than who teaches it now, so course design may vary.
