An introduction to some of the central problems of philosophy. Examples of questions that may be considered include: What is sound reasoning? What can we know? What is ultimately real? Is morality rational? Do humans have free will? Is there a God? What is consciousness? Should we fear death? What is justice? Note: PHL100Y1 and PHL101Y1 are both broad introductions to philosophy, and each is appropriate for students with no prior experience with the subject.

I took PHL101 in first year, super interesting course and got me to do a philosophy minor even though I never considered it before. I strongly recommend it, you basically just go over some of the main themes in philosophy and just kind of discuss them in tutorials. When I took it there were weekly quizzes which were super easy, you could just control F the slides and find the answers. We also had 4 papers over the entire course which are super light as long as you know how to write them, and even if you don't you'll learn after the first one. We then had one midterm and a final, both of which were short responses you can finish from home anytime over a week's period.
