An intensive study of Machiavelli’s major works in English translation, including his political treatises (The Prince, excerpts from The Discourses), plays (The Mandrake Root), letters, and short story (Belfagor), in the context of Renaissance Florence, the history of Machiavelli criticism, and modern ethical debates.
