Work, Labour and Organizations

This course explores work and employment through an Industrial Relations perspective, integrating insights from economics, law, history, psychology, and sociology. Students will examine the nature of work, its organization, and key concepts in industrial relations, employment relations, and human resources. The course covers the evolution of work from pre-industrial times to the effects of industrialization and globalization. Finally, students will investigate future challenges such as automation, AI, precarious work, and inequality. By the end, students will recognize work as both an economic activity and a social relationship influenced by larger systems of power, regulation, and negotiation.
