This course examines the impact of Second World War on the political, social, and cultural fabric of European societies. Beyond the military and political history of the war, it will engage topics including, but not limited to, geopolitical and ideological contexts; occupation, collaboration and resistance; the lives of combatants and civilians in total war; the Holocaust and the radicalisation of violence; and postwar memory.European Area
