Study of a Literary Genre

This course offers an in-depth study of a single literary genre. The genre explored will vary by offering. Topics may include classical or modern theatre, epic or lyric poetry, narrative forms, or parody and satire. Through close reading, students examine the formal conventions and historical and socio-cultural contexts that shape the genre under study. The course strengthens students’ ability to analyze literary form and situate texts within broader cultural frameworks.
