Gravity and Magnetics

Earth's gravity and magnetic fields provide geophysicists with natural sources to collect data from which they may answer questions related to resource exploration and anthropogenic (archaeology, forensic, environmental) targets. Students will learn about potential theory, data transformation (eg, filtering, upward continuation, analytical signal, reduction-to-the-pole), and apply forward modeling and inversion methods to potential field data.
