UTSGComputing Stochastic Models in Evolutionary Biology
Probability and stochasticity underlie our understanding of evolutionary and ecological processes, but many students don’t get to experience these concepts without a background in mathematics or computer science. This course explores the fundamentals of modelling and quantitative approaches in ecology, evolution, and organismal biology in an accessible way. We will cover the probabilistic foundations of ecological, evolutionary, and bioinformatic models and concepts by developing students’ proficiency at developing their own code from scratch.
