Korean Language in the Workplace: Academic Internship

In this course, students apply their Korean language skills in supervised academic internship placements across education, nonprofit, business, and cultural sectors. Through structured opportunities to use Korean in real-world workplace settings, students develop practical and sector-specific vocabulary, enhance intercultural communication skills, and build professional networks. Students complete 35-40 hours of placement work with a partnering organization, such as local high schools, community organizations, or Korean businesses, in addition to in-class seminars, readings, and assignments. They engage in workplace communication scenarios such as outreach, project coordination, teaching support, or cultural programming. Seminars emphasize goal-setting, professional skills, networking, teamwork, and critical reflection. Students produce a final capstone portfolio and presentation. This course integrates linguistic, professional, and intercultural competencies, culminating in a meaningful, high-impact experiential learning experience. Not eligible for CR/NCR.
